Amazing Avenues

Tucked into a quiet street in the Salt Lake City Avenues, this charming brick Tudor had good bones but a front yard that wasn’t doing the house any favors. The wide, open lot gave the property plenty of square footage, but without structure or purpose, it read as empty space rather than usable outdoor living. Working with the homeowners, Simms transformed the entire frontage into a formal kitchen garden, complete with geometric raised beds, structured boxwood borders, and street-facing hedging that gives the yard a sense of intention from every angle.

Before

The front yard had been stripped down to bare dirt, with no real structure or purpose to the space. Without any defined planting areas or hardscape, there was nothing to draw the eye or give the family a reason to use the yard.

After

The front yard is now a productive, beautiful space the whole neighborhood notices. Formal raised garden beds bring in fresh vegetables and herbs, while structured boxwood borders and established trees give the yard a sense of permanence. Every square foot has a job.
